Friday Sermon–17th September 2021 Ustad Syed Jawad Naqvi (h.a) From–Masjid Baitul Ateeq-Lahore
Taqwa is acquired through Seerate Mustaqim but the right path has dangers of existence of distorted paths (Subul) alongside it. One of the distorted paths is that of Zalalat, which is the state of confusion where a person cannot find guidance. When a person gets into this state of Zalalat where he cannot differentiate between guidance and misguidance, that is what is religion and what is non-religiousness. This is the state of Zalalat. Who creates this confusion? There are several sources, one of them are the elders and Syeds.
Syed in Arabic are elderly persons , chieftains who have well recognized position in their society, whom people listen are the chieftains. These are the biggest source of misguidance since they have respect as an elderly person and hence people blindly listen to them. They adulterate religiousness and non-religiousness.
In Surah Furqan, verse 17 and 18
وَیَوْمَ یَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا یَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَیَقُولُ أَأَنْتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِی هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا السَّبِیلَ {17}
On the day that He will muster them and those whom they worship besides Allah, He will say, ‘Was it you who led astray these servants of Mine, or did they themselves stray from the way?’
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَکَ مَا کَانَ یَنْبَغِی لَنَا أَنْ نَتَّخِذَ مِنْ دُونِکَ مِنْ أَوْلِیَاءَ وَلَٰکِنْ مَتَّعْتَهُمْ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا الذِّکْرَ وَکَانُوا قَوْمًا بُورًا {18}
They will say, ‘Immaculate are You! It does not behoove us to take any Wali in Your stead! But You provided for them and their fathers until they forgot the Reminder, and they were a ruined lot.’
In these verses when on the day of Qayamat when both Abideen and Ma’bud are mustered on the day of Judgement. Ibadat does not mean worship as per Quran it means obedience and these worships which we do are expression of this obedience.
Man in abundance is occupied with obedience of non-Allah and Taghoot, because man thinks he is not worshipping Taghoot so its fine, but to obey the orders of anyone else other than Allah is Uboodiyat of non-Allah. If you listen to someone’s order, manifesto, decision than he is your Ma’bud. We have gathered the entire discussion of Shirk and Tauheed on worship, hence many polytheists think that they worship a lot but they obey others completely. When the term deities (Ma’bud) come, then we start to imagine idols of stones and woods. Man is mostly involved in Shirk of making other humans as deities. As per Surah Yusuf; majority of those who believe in Allah are polytheists. This is because even though they worship Allah they obey many other humans as deities (Ma’bud). We should look at ourselves to whom all’s instructions and commands we listen. Those who are expressing the decision and order of Allah like parents are giving Allah’s orders to children then this is obedience of Allah and not parents. The prophets, Imams, saints present the orders of Allah hence obeying them is the worship of Allah and not human.
Allah will gather those who obey and those were obeyed in place of Allah on the day of Qayamat. The day of judgement is not for idols of stones and wood, it is for all humans. On this day of judgement of human beings, Allah will question those who were obeyed as deities, whether you misguided my bondsmen, did you take them away from my obedience to obey yourself? This verse is telling that this is happening on earth today where Ma’bud is the slave of Allah and Abid is the slave of human. The one who is being obeyed is the servant of Allah himself is what this verse says. This group of Ma’bud in this verse is distinct because many other Ma’bud like Taghoot’s, tyrants are not obedient to Allah. One exclusive category of Ma’bud is one that they are obedient servants of Allah but still they are being obeyed by people. They themselves do not attest being Ma’bud. Who are these?
As per commentators of Quran, amongst Prophets there are some whose community have given them the status of Allah. Like the Christians who give Prophet Isa the status of Allah from various dimensions. The Christians are the majority religion in the world today even though practically they are not. They believe in Prophet Isa as the son of God, or God or incarnation of God inside Isa. They will be gathered with Prophet Isa on the day of Qayamat. Like Jews consider Prophet Uzair on the position of Allah. In this era the group of Gaali’s who give the status of Allah to Ahlulbayt (a) and even to Zuljinah (horse of Imam Hussain (a)) they give the status of Allah and they are filthiest ones present in Pakistan.
When Allah will gather the Ma’bud and Abid together, Allah is asking the Ma’bud that did you misguide them to obey and worship yourself? The second part of the question is whether they themselves got misguided? The Ma’bud will reply that your essence is immaculate , it is impossible for us to tell anyone to obey us, we do not have the rights to do this and neither can we make anyone else other then you as our guardian. It is not worth our position to tell these people that either we or someone else is your guardian.
Today in the sects this kind of worship is in abundance. The Gaali’s are not Shias and it is a big mistake, laziness of Shias that they have not separated Gaali’s from their religion. The Qadyani’s are today as well Qadyani only who believe Mirza Gulam Ahmad was the Prophet. They are followers of Hanafi sect and their scholars give Fatwa as per Hanafi sect but still the Hanafi’s have not said that if we consider them as non-Muslims the Hanafi’s numbers will reduce and they explicitly declared them as non-Muslims and all sects did it. The Muslims hate Qadyani’s. The Shias should wash this filth and declare that Gaali’s are not Shias and not just this even they are not Muslims. The Gaali’s when they speak Shirk get all associated with Shias. This hyperbole that is taking place in the name of Shias is complete filth. The other sects also do the same. Like for Hazrat Gaus ul Aza, the hyperbole that is done for Sheikh Abdul Qadi Gilani is much beyond the Gaali’s. Like they say Sheikh gave some life back even though Allah did not want. All this is extravagance and this is considering someone as deity. Does Sheikh Gilani also believes the same about himself, no but his followers do this about him.
The President has said in Parliament that entire world should do allegiance of Imran Khan. In politics you can see the hyperbole about personalities. These leaders who are considered as deities, do they also consider themselves as deity? Allah says not all are like this. As in this verse they are saying we do not have the rights to accept someone as guardian (Wali) other than you. There are many other verses in the same context. In one other verse Prophet Isa is explicitly asked and he replies that it is not like this they are themselves misguided. Allah has given these personalities the position not because they can be made deities. It is not that there is Trinity of Allah, Prophet and Ulul Amr. The Prophet and Ulul Amr are expressing the obedience of Allah.
Now these whom people have made deities (Ma’bud) will express the reason on what has misguided them. They will say that Allah you have given them the assets of life , the wealth, property which has misguided them. The wealth assets of theirs and forefathers has left them astray, they have forgotten you and they have turned into a barren community ( قَوْمًا بُورًا ). This part of the verse needs more explanation which we will talk later.
Allah says that on Seerate Mustaqim you will acquire Taqwa and the danger of Seerate Mustaqim are the various diverse paths along with the right path. From where this misguidance develops, and when people are gathered as one reference in this verse it is seen that they are misguided and live-in astonishment due to the wealth and assets they have and hence have turned into a barren community.
